Joseph Samuels, Photographer

Avid, semi-professional photographer for over fifty years.

Yearbook photographer while a student.

A few shows in galleries.

Some prints sold.

Landscapes, portraits, events, our kids, our pets, and now our grandchildren.

Recently, a specialty in shooting musical and theatrical performances.

All for the love of it.

The Rolleiflex bought with my own savings over fifty years ago is now on the shelf.  Almost all the rest of the 35mm and 6x6 film equipment has been traded in.  The professional black-and-white darkroom is moth-balled.  The slide collection (around 20,000) has been converted into digital files with a high-resolution scanner and Lasersoft’s Silverfast.

Now using a Canon 5D Mark II and a 40D and a bunch of great lenses.  Digital editing and printing with Apple’s Aperture, Photoshop Elements, and LightZone, and several Epson printers.

A lawyer by profession.  When not photographing, time is spent practicing the clarinet, playing in bands, enjoying theatre, dining with my wife, having fun with the grandchildren, and carrying on my practice as an arbitrator.
